   Sea-going cargo-and-passenger ekranoplan "Strizh–3" (further in the text – ekranoplan) is designed for operative passenger and cargo transportation at the distances up to 400 miles. Ekranoplan can be also used for patrol service of sea boundaries and economic area protection, as well as for rescue operations. Aerohydrodynamic configuration must be accomplished according to the aircraft layout. Feed of propulsion engines streams under the wing of ekranoplan is used as a take-off mechanization.

      1.GENERAL ARRANGEMENT Accommodation of crew, passengers and cargo A pilot is accommodated in the cabin together with passengers. The cargo is located in the tail-end of the cabin. There exists a variant of ekranoplan with two pilots. In this case the pilot cabins are situated one over another. Allocation of technical aids Fuel stocks are situated in the compartments, located in the wing torsion boxes. Technical aids serving engines and pilot - house are located in the body in the area of engines.

   2.AVIONICS Navigational aids Navigation set will be installed on the ekranoplan to accomplish the following principal tasks: -elaboration of current values of coordinates according to data of satellite navigation with the precision providing safe operation of ekranoplan; -elaboration and indication of parameters necessary for piloting. External and internal communications facilities External communications facilities will provide: -continuous communication with the command-control point by the channels of telephone satellite communication; -communication with a control point with the help of VHF radio station; -reception of information on safety at sea by means of NAVTEX service receiver; -distress signaling by means of COSPAS-SARSAT system. Internal communications facilities will provide talks between the members of crew and passengers.

   3.AIRFRAME MATERIALS, DESIGN AND STRENGTH Airframe materials The main material of airframe’s welded constructions is durable corrosion-resisting aluminum alloy 1561 made in Russia. Tension strength is no less than 34 kg/mm2. High-strength corrosion-resisting aluminum alloy Ê48-2pch-Ò1 is used for thin sheet constructions of the airframe. This alloy was created in Russia especially for ekranoplans. Tension strength is no less than 47 kg/mm2, the material is mainly used in the riveted connections. Airframe construction Airframe of ekranoplan represents all-metal structure and consists of the following main units: - body (fuselage); - wing; - vertical tail unit (keel); - horizontal tail unit (tail plane). Constructions of airframe units consist of outside plating with reinforcing ribs, longitudinal framing, transverse framing. External loads and strength External loads of ekranoplan are calculated by means of design-experiment method based on the big volume of research works and development activities, including verification of methods on the built ekranoplans. Strength analyses are performed by the Russian methodology and submitted to a customer’s approval. Note: Estimated assessment of ekranoplan’s being afloat must be accomplished according to the conditions of strength when sea is 4.

   4.HABITABILITY, INSULATION AND FINISHING Insulating and finishing materials – the same as used in the aircraft construction. An air-conditioner is installed in the pilothouse to hold air temperature about 24 Ñ.

   5.SHIP DEVICES Ekranoplan is supplied with anchor-handling gear in the form of anchor, one-time use with a normalized holding power up to 10 meters depths. Ekranoplan is supplied with mooring arrangement: bitts, cleats. Towing of ekranoplan can be accomplished both head-on and by the stern. Appropriate fastenings are situated on the body for this purpose.

   6.SURVIVAL EQUIPMENT Personal survival aids on water – life-saving vests are provided. Besides ekranoplan is supplied with the light and sound distress signalling aids.

   7.TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM, HYDRAULICS SYSTEM Traffic control system distantly puts into action steering surfaces. Steering surfaces are as follows: elevators, rudders, ailerons-flaps. All the mentioned steering surfaces are controlled by mechanical drives.

   8.FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT Pods of engines are supplied with the automatic fire-fighting systems. Besides, ekranoplan is supplied with a hand-operated fire-extinguisher.

   9.POWER PLANT Main engines Number of engines 2 One engine power in the range of 280-300 hp. Type of engine: engines of «Teledyne Continental Motors» firm or of a Russian firm can be used. The concrete type of engine is selected during the designing. Power plant mechanical systems Power plant systems of ekranoplan include: - fuel system; - starting system; - control system. Fuel system is designed taking into account high reliability and safety. Breakage of any element doesn’t affect reliability of engines’power supply. Engines’ control system is the cable one.

   10.MAINTENANCE FACILITIES The delivery set includes lifting and transportation facilities and other means of maintenance facilities of ekranoplan in the process of operation.
